The Health and Safety Manager, as the Owner Health and Safety Manager’s representative, provides health and safety oversight, monitoring and reporting to ensure EPC contractor compliance with approved site safety plans. The Health and Safety Manager will work with the Owner Safety Manager to ensure the EPC contractor’s safety program implementation aligns with Owner corporate and all environmental and safety regulatory requirements. The Health and Safety Manager reports to the Owner Safety Manager and Owner Project Manager. Responsibilities
Monitor and ensure EPC contractor implementation of environmental and site safety procedures and programs. Monitor and report on EPC contractor work to ensure compliance with site safety plans. File regulatory reports in compliance with local, state, and federal agencies. Conduct field safety audits to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures, and follow up to ensure measures are implemented. Submit safety audit results to Owner Safety Manager, Owner Site Manager, and Owner Project Manager. Actively participate in EPC contractor All-hands Safety Meetings and morning safety meetings. Assist with the investigation of all incidents and injuries from initial report to closure. Ensure EPC contractor conducts new employee safety orientation and safety training. SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, to be adhered to where applicable. Essential Functions
Maintain and electronically file safety-related documentation for all work. Serve as the safety point of contact for the EPC contractor, equipment suppliers and subcontractors. Track safety non-conformances to closure. Ensure potential incident and health hazards are resolved and closed adequately. Collaborate with EPC contractor, EPC contractor EHS, Construction Site Manager and other site management personnel, as well as the Owner Project Management Team. Uphold safety standards and ensure safety protocols onsite are followed. Communicate safety expectations effectively and professionally. Represent the organization with composure and professional candor. Contract Management and Reporting
Read and fully understand the construction Scope of Work and safety requirements as outlined in the following documents: Exhibit A, Exhibit L, Exhibit P, Main Transformer Supply Agreement, Module Supply Agreement, Energy Storage Supply Agreement, and others as applicable. Qualifications
Minimum of five (5) years’ related experience in the solar construction industry as a full-time Health and Safety Professional. Experience with safety management of crane operations and approving lift plans. CRSP, CSP or equivalent construction experience. Associates degree, Qualified Health & Safety Officer (QHSO) and five years’ solar related construction field experience. Five (5) years’ experience as an EHS Manager on a solar module construction project. OSHA 30 certification. Training and management skills and experience to understand health and safety hazards and controls for large construction projects. Current CPR/First Aid certification from a nationally recognized program. Additional Information
