Overview The Generator Field Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of generator sets and associated components. This role ensures that generator equipment operates safely and performs to the required standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities None.
Responsibilities
Performs repairs and services on all makes and models of generator sets.
Inspections, repairs, services, and start-up load bank test requirements on equipment.
Troubleshoots equipment and services generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
Applies proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating performance tests.
Identifies the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps, determines corrective action through inspection of failed parts.
Repairs and troubleshoots engines such as Kohler, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, MTU and Volvo.
Communicates all information to customers in an accurate, factual manner.
Delivers exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Ensures work scope has been performed and unit is operational.
Writes clear and concise service reports.
Responsible for vehicle safety maintenance.
Maintains assigned vehicle inventory and able to travel throughout the local counties.
Maintains and organizes tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Learns and complies with all safety regulations and procedures. Wears PPE when required.
Reports any issues or incidents promptly.
Responds to emergency service calls.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Compliance: Operates with the highest level of conduct, integrity, and confidentiality.
Adheres to company policies and procedures.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduation from a Technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay, or substation technology a plus.
Valid driver license and a clean driving record.
Possession of relevant licenses and certifications, as required by local or state regulations.
Experience
Two years of experience with repairs/maintenance of generators from 8kW to 2800 kW preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb ladders, stand for prolonged periods, use power tools, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to differentiate colors for wiring.
Work may be performed outside in high/low temperature. Authorized to Work in the US.
