Responsibilities & Expectations: As a Marine Diesel Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine diesel generators used in various marine pleasure craft and commercial marine vessels. You will work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to ensure the reliable operation and performance of these generators through installation and commission, preventative maintenance, diagnostic and repair, documentation and reporting, and training and support.

Install KOHLER/Rehlko marine diesel generators in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and specifications

Conduct KOHLER/Rehlko generator commissioning activities, including system testing, parameter adjustment, and synchronization with existing electrical systems

Ensure proper alignment and connection of electrical cables, controls, and safety devices

Perform routine maintenance tasks on KOHLER/Rehlko marine diesel generators, including oil and filter changes, fuel system inspections, coolant checks, and battery maintenance

Conduct scheduled inspections and tests to identify and address potential issues before they result in equipment failure

Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including parts used, service performed, and test results

Troubleshoot generator malfunctions and electrical system issues using diagnostic tools and equipment

Identify faulty components and perform repairs or replacements as necessary, including fuel injectors, starter motors, alternators, control boards, and wiring

Test generator functionality after repairs to ensure proper operation and adherence to safety standards

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of generator maintenance, repairs, and service history

Generate reports on generator performance, issues, and recommended corrective actions

Provide clear and concise communication to clients and management regarding repair status, timelines, and any potential concerns

Stay updated on the latest KOHLER/Rehlko generator products, technical bulletins, and service manuals

Provide technical guidance and training to less experienced technicians or team member

Collaborate with colleagues and participate in knowledge sharing activities to enhance overall team performance

Qualifications and Competencies:

Minimum 5 years’ experience working with KOHLER/Rehlko marine diesel generators

Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, diesel engines, and generator operation on pleasure craft yachts and commercial marine vessels

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues

Ability to interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams

Solid understanding of preventive maintenance practices and procedures

Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks in various working conditions

Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to follow proper procedures to ensure a safe work environment

Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver’s license
