Manufacturing Engineer II

We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Boston Whaler team. You will improve products and processes through innovative technology, including materials, tooling, automation, production processes, and information technology. This is a senior‑level role that may involve supervising a small team of salaried personnel.
Position Overview As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, you will improve products and processes through innovative use of new technology. You will provide daily guidance to engineers and technicians, create solutions to increase manufacturing throughput and built‑in quality, support daily production operations, participate in high‑performance teams to achieve SQDP goals, conduct GEMBA walks, identify projects that support safety, financial and quality goals, and manage tooling and process improvements using Six Sigma methods.
Essential Functions
Provide daily guidance for Engineers and Mechanical Engineering Technicians to support current production.
Create innovative solutions to increase manufacturing throughput and built‑in quality.
Work with Operations and Quality to support daily production.
Participate in High Performance Teams as support to engineers to achieve SQDP goals.
Participate in GEMBA Walks.
Identify projects that support the Safety, financial, and quality goals of Boston Whaler.
Participate in Line Balancing events to support dynamic production schedules.
Support the ECN and deviation processes.
Integrate PFMEA process.
Manage current tooling and processes.
Utilize Six Sigma methods to increase productivity and reduce costs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Material Science, or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of team leading experience.
7–10 years of Manufacturing Engineering at a focused factory level.
Experience in Tool Design, Print Standards and Six Sigma Yellow Belt.
APQP Standards (PFMEA, Control Plan, JES) and Fiberglass (FRP) experience is a plus.
Ability to utilize basic metrology tools and work independently.
Proven self‑starter and strong problem‑solving, team, and interpersonal skills.
Physical & Work Environment Work will be performed on the shop floor, which is non‑climate controlled. You will be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, noise, and various chemicals. The role requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lb. Experience with safety equipment such as safety glasses, Tyvex aprons, and half‑mask respirators is expected.
Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $60,000 – $110,500 annually. Eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, 401(k) with company match, health savings account, wellbeing program, product purchase discounts, and more.
