Structural Engineer – Chapel Hill, NC – Fully onsite
Be a key technical voice on a growing team focused on advancing renewable energy infrastructure. Design, model, and analyze structural components across energy storage systems and related infrastructure, from concept through construction to ensure performance and regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Do
Design and analyze structural systems including solar racking, foundations, and structural supports
Develop calculations, technical drawings, and engineering documentation for construction and permitting
Ensure designs meet all applicable codes (IBC, ACI, AISC) and industry standards
Conduct site inspections and structural assessments as needed
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to solve complex technical challenges
Use industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, Revit, and STAAD.Pro
Support construction teams with technical guidance and problem-solving
Stay current on emerging materials, methods, and sustainability practices in structural engineering
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
5+ years of experience in structural design and analysis
PE license or ability to obtain one is strongly preferred
Proficiency in structural engineering software and CAD tools
Deep understanding of U.S. building codes and regulatory standards
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and the ability to work as part of a collaborative, on-site team
Bonus Skills
Experience with seismic and wind load design
Familiarity with BIM processes and green building practices
Background in construction site coordination or field engineering
