The

Structural Substation Design Engineer

will be responsible for the

structural and civil engineering design and analysis

of high‑voltage electrical power substation facilities. This role ensures that all structural designs meet applicable industry codes, safety standards, and utility requirements. The engineer will provide

technical leadership and support

through all project phases—from concept development and detailed structural design through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the

structural design and analysis

for high‑voltage electrical power substation projects.

Develop and review

structural design drawings, specifications, analysis reports, and construction documents

in accordance with ACI, AISC, ASCE, and local building codes.

Perform

structural analysis and calculations

including foundation design, steel structure design, and seismic/wind load assessments.

Conduct

finite element modeling (FEM) , nonlinear, and dynamic response analyses as required.

Design and specify

steel structures, equipment support structures, cable trench systems, and substation foundations

(transformer, breaker, and control building).

Provide

engineering support during construction and commissioning , resolving design changes and addressing field issues.

Coordinate closely with

electrical, civil, and project management teams

to ensure structural design integration and project success.

Required Qualifications

Strong background in

structural and heavy civil engineering

with understanding of substation layouts and interfaces with electrical systems.

Proven experience in

structural design of electrical power substations , including the development of detailed drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Proficiency in

AutoCAD

and structural analysis/design software such as

STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS .

In-depth knowledge of

industry standards and codes

(ACI, AISC, ASCE, and local building codes).

Demonstrated ability to perform

load calculations, finite element modeling, and nonlinear/dynamic analysis .

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting

substation structural design

from concept through commissioning.

Familiarity with

utility standards, EPC project delivery, and regulatory compliance requirements .

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license

or ability to obtain one preferred.
