Overview

Smithfield Foods is hiring for a leadership role in maintenance and engineering within a fast-paced plant. You will be at the forefront of maintaining top-tier building and equipment performance, driving innovation and efficiency in maintenance systems and technology projects. Relocation package available. Responsibilities

Engineering Project Development : Take ownership of capital projects from concept to completion. Manage and schedule project elements to ensure minimal disruption to plant operations, delivering projects on time and on budget while maintaining safety, food safety, and environmental standards. Maintenance Systems : Lead the development and implementation of maintenance systems, including Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and TPM, ensuring optimal scheduling and minimizing downtime. Drive plant efficiency and seamless operations. Maintenance Staff and Safety : Lead and manage the maintenance team, delegate tasks, enforce policies, and guide work assignments. Maintain a safety-first culture and compliance with federal and state regulations. Solutions : Provide short-term fixes and long-term solutions to operational challenges, troubleshooting and preventing recurring issues to keep production lines running smoothly. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) : Develop and track KPIs to measure maintenance effectiveness, equipment reliability, supplier performance, and overall equipment effectiveness. Leadership and Flexibility : Step in when key personnel are absent to ensure tasks are completed or appropriately delegated. Maintain smooth plant operations. People Management : Lead through development and coaching to foster a positive employee experience. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. 2+ years of team management or project leadership experience. Strong leadership, organizational, teamwork, analytical, and adaptability skills. Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation) and ability to lead resource planning in a large manufacturing environment. Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, etc. Ability to use exposure monitoring equipment and interpret results. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word. Effective written and verbal communication; strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills. May be required to work long hours and weekends. Other Skills

Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and build positive working relationships. Physical Demands & Work Environment

Office and plant settings with exposure to wet/humid conditions, extreme temperatures, moving parts, fumes or chemicals. Moderate to loud noise in the production area. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close and distance vision and focus adjustment.
