About the Department UNC Rex Holly Springs Emergency Department is a 24-bed unit providing high-quality, patient-centered care. The department includes a results waiting area, two large resuscitation rooms (one for pediatric emergencies), and five triage/exam rooms.
Role Overview Team Leader RN balances advanced clinical care with leadership responsibilities—supporting staff development, optimizing patient outcomes, and ensuring operational excellence.
Time Allocation Approximately 70% Clinical / 30% Administrative
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert, high-quality nursing care in a high-acuity emergency setting.
Serve as Charge Nurse during shifts, overseeing patient flow, assignments, and clinical prioritization.
Precept and mentor new team members, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
Support critical decision-making at the bedside and promote clinical best practices.
Collaborate with physicians, EMS, behavioral health, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, timely care.
Administrative Responsibilities
Participate in unit-based and hospital-wide quality improvement and shared governance initiatives.
Assist with staff education, competency training, and continuing education efforts.
Conduct staff check-ins and provide coaching, feedback, and support.
Perform patient experience rounding to enhance care and satisfaction.
Partner with leadership on staffing, team engagement, and retention strategies.

Preferred Qualifications
2–5 years of emergency nursing experience (adult or pediatric).
Prior leadership or charge nurse experience strongly preferred.
