$72,072.00 - $74,229.26 The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) has a combined total of 30 intensive care beds designed to provide specialized care to critically ill adult patients (14 years and older). The unit has a usual 50/50 split of patient population between neuro and surgical cases. The focus of care includes patients with life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean. The SICU and Neuro ICU patient needs encompass comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, laboratory value management, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring. Nurses require skills such as ICP monitoring via EVD or bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion. Procedures supported on-unit include arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains, ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, PEG tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, among others.
Hourly Range:
$34.65 - $35.69

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document treatments according to policies and regulations. • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions. • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care. • Apply sound nursing judgment in care management decisions. • Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses. • Administer medications as ordered. • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care. • Supervise ancillary personnel and uphold professional nursing standards. • Graduate from a recognized nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree). • Current NYS Registered Nurse license. • Maintain BLS and ACLS certifications. • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational, and time-management skills. • Knowledge of quality improvement concepts and problem-solving tools, with ability to apply them.
