Postdoctoral Scientist in the Department of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences

Duties/Responsibilities: A postdoctoral scientist is sought in the Department of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences to study the role of antigen-specific T cell response in oral mucosal homeostasis and periodontal disease. The successful candidate will participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of research studies, collaborate with other researchers, and contribute to publications. The projects are funded by NIH and conducted in Dr. Drake Williams' laboratory. Specific duties include: Study the specific aims of a proposal, act as a project leader, and coordinate with similar research projects. Conduct research, analyze data, and report findings; develop research plans and solve methodological problems. Interpret experimental data, prepare results for publication and presentation. Serve as an expert resource within the lab and for external collaborators. Advise the principal investigator on research techniques, procedures, and grant proposals. Qualifications: Required: PhD with substantial research and publication record. High self-motivation, organized work style, and good teamwork ethics. Preferred: PhD in oral biology, immunology, or related field. Experience with mouse models of oral inflammation. Experience in computational analysis using R/Python.
