The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and to eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. The office of Training & Outreach is seeking to fill the role of a Partnership & Collaboration Specialist. This role's primary function would be to build and maintain partnerships with external partners, CBOs, and stakeholders and seek ways to create additional strategic partnerships. They would also contribute their insights and expertise into the design of future outreach interventions.

Duties Will Include But Not Be Limited To

Act as the CBO Liaison and is the point person between the Bureau with CBOs and other external agencies Track and QA all outreach activities and events in Public Health Partners Connect database Liaise with CBOs and stakeholders, as part of BTBC Core Activity of Outreach and Education Facilitate collaboration and information-sharing to enhance the impact of TB educational outreach Recruit partners for the TB Coalition and facilitates discussion during TB Coalition meetings Attend monthly or quarterly partnership meetings with the Public Health Educator Act as a representative for BTBC on agency work groups, external stakeholder meetings, and as a bureau liaison for collaboration between the Division of Disease Control Maintain an updated list of BTBC community partners Excellent interpersonal skills with at least one year of responsibility in the planning, coordination and implementation of outreach interventions Identify opportunities for joint initiatives and cross-sectoral engagement Assist in identifying and drafting grant applications for special outreach and training initiatives Conduct literature review and needs assessments for emerging outreach interventions Develop and distribute the clinically oriented TB Action News newsletter quarterly to stakeholders Coordinate with colleagues throughout the Health Department to ensure that outreach efforts are inclusive of all New Yorkers

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of the health care delivery system Experience working and communicating with patients and/or the public Experience working and communicating with clinicians or other health care or social service providers Experience with structured interviews, medical terminology, and conducting medical chart reviews Experience with public health education Good written and oral communication skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to work in a team environment Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (MS word, Excel etc.) Experience working in the community in a social service, mental health or public health capacity Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends

CITY RESEARCH SCIENTIST - 21744

Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health) A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.

To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:

A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in "2" above. Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required in "1" and "2" above.

Probationary Period

Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
