Principal's Secretary Miller Elementary School 12 month position (1.0 FTE) Qualifications

Two years post-secretary training or four-year secretarial job experience Experience with software programs in Word, Excel, Google Apps for Educators, etc. Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal directions Able to handle varied tasks Relates well with children, staff, and parents Positive attitude Accurate and dependable Demonstrates human relations skills Familiarity with social media and website document posting Ability to work independently and as part of a team General Responsibilities

To perform duties assigned by the principal in a responsible and confidential manner so that the school can most efficiently serves students. Duties

General receptionist duties

Greets everyone, provides information, and directs to proper location Handles in-coming calls and redirects them as needed Assists in maintaining building security and follows critical incident procedures as necessary

General secretarial duties

Types for the principal as needed Supervises office clerical help Plans for internal substitute coverage as necessary Prepares daily announcements Prepares building newsletters Prepares meeting minutes as requested Submits information requested by principal to newspapers

General assistance for Business Office

Oversees activity fund for the principal and Business Office Assists principal with purchase orders and oversight of school building budget Keeps accurate records of fees, payments, and notifies students and parents of amounts owed

General first aid in absence of nurse or secretary/health aide

Renders minor first aid assistance to ill students, makes arrangements for transportation home, doctor, or hospital if necessary Maintains sick room when students feel ill

Maintains student records

Maintains accurate attendance records Maintains accurate disciplinary records Maintains confidentiality

Student assistance

Writes passes and absence excuses Notifies students when to report to office Supervises students waiting for principal

Complies with all District policies, regulations and procedures as established by the Board of Education. Other duties as assigned. Compensation
