Summary
Direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the programs and activities of the Building Inspections Division; to coordinate assigned activities with other City departments, divisions, and outside agencies. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assumes management responsibility for all services and activities of the building inspections, rental inspections, hotel/motel inspections, and apartment inspections. Administers, interprets, updates, and enforces building codes, ordinances, and regulations. Ensures compliance with the Code of Conduct. Selects, trains, and motivates personnel. Provides staff with training and works with employees to correct deficiencies. Manages and participates in the development and administration of the annual budget. Reviews developmental codes with architects, engineers, and developers. Coordinates permit processes between developers and other City departments and divisions. Responds to questions regarding various areas of responsibility. Mediate and resolve conflicts and complaints. Other duties may be assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages employees in the Inspections divisions. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certifications recommended for this position include: Certified Building Official; Texas State Plumbing Inspector License; ICC Building Inspector Certification. A valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for this position. Driving is a requirement of this position. Benefits
