Assistant Director of Nursing reports to, and assists the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility.
The following is a general list of key job duties and responsibilities:
Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator/DON.
Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
Timely completion of assigned in-service training assignments.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director as necessary/required.
Assist in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies.
Participate in developing, implementing, and periodically updating the resident’s written discharge plan.
Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and clinical programs.
In the absence of the Director, serve on, participate in, and attend various committees of the facility.
Assist the Director in determining and meeting the staffing needs of the nursing service department.
Assist the Director in preparing performance evaluations.
Make daily rounds for the nursing service department to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Assist with review and assist with resolution of complaints and grievances.
Assist the Director with departmental disciplinary action.
Encourage attending physicians to record and sign progress notes, physicians’ orders, etc., on a timely basis.
Review nursing documentation to ensure documentation is informative, inclusive and descriptive of the nursing care that is being provided.
Essential Job Duties/Physical Requirements:
Regular worksite attendance.
Must have a valid professional license (RN/LPN) that is in good standing with the State.
Must have a valid CPR certification.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
Primary Physical Requirements: Lift up to 10 lbs: Frequently, Lift 11 to 25 lbs: Occasionally, etc.
