The Kay Spiritual Life Center seeks to hire federal work study students for the upcoming academic year to be part of a student worker team and support the work of the department. The Kay Spiritual Life Center is American University\'s place for people of all beliefs to explore meaning, discern purpose, and find community. We strive to make the world a gentler place. Kay Spiritual Life Center is home to dozens of belief communities, student groups, and community partners. Essential Functions
General administrative duties Monitor, order, and restock office supplies Answer phones, respond to emails, sort mail, update records, greet visitors Maintain cleanliness and organization of office spaces, lounge, chapel, and other spaces Create reference documents, print, and organize files Event management: assist in planning and executing Kay Spiritual Life Center inter-belief and community events Provide day-of-event support including event set up, guest registration, monitoring, and event breakdown Design, order, construct décor; correspond with vendors and other departments to secure food, space, logistics Use social media to promote events and programs Collect and analyze data from events to support mid-year and annual reports Interfaith programming: create relationships with students, community partners, and staff across different beliefs Engage in conversations and programming about beliefs, traditions, and belonging; assist in planning and executing an inter-belief retreat program Engage in outreach initiatives Work independently and as part of a team; confidentiality and reliability are essential Work alongside the Associate Director on administrative and event projects; manage various spaces in the building and serve as a friendly face for the department Required Education And Experience
Enrolled student at American University Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks Ability to multitask, work consistent hours and meet deadlines while paying close attention to detail Creative, results oriented, excels in customer service and strong administrative skills Familiarity with the Office 365 Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) Preferred Education And Experience
