Responsibilities:
Assist the licensed Advanced Learning teacher by guiding small groups of students through the “Independent Investigation” research process.
Help students formulate questions around personal interests, gather information from multiple resources, and create a variety of products to share their learning with others.
Schedule and assist students individually and in groups with their enrichment work as directed by the high potential resource teacher.
Assist with scheduling parent volunteers as needed.
Qualifications:
Flexibility in work schedule.
Experience working with gifted/talented elementary students.
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
Ability to guide and support students through challenging work.
Computer skills are desirable.
Flexibility and creativity.
Ability to be firm but kind, caring but consistent, patient and vigilant.
Ability to accept direction and work as part of a team.
Ability to schedule parent volunteers.
Resourcefulness and independence within program scope.
Positive interpersonal skills with students and teachers.
Good organizational skills, punctuality, and responsibility.
Willingness to participate in additional training.
Knowledge of research skills and reference materials.
Willingness to abide by district confidentiality policies.
Assignment:
14 hours per week for approximately 30 weeks per year.
Pay Rate:
Minimum starting pay rate: $21.86.
