Overview
Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit, mission‑driven organization that supports patient care, research, teaching, and community service. This Medical Assistant role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non‑clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.
Schedule 2 shifts per week (Monday & Thursday). No weekends or holidays required. Hours: 7:15 am – 5:45 pm. Total hours: 20 per week.
Responsibilities
Assist junior Medical Assistants with onboarding training and day‑to‑day questions.
Guide patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical information.
Measure vital signs, weight, and height; record data in the patient’s medical record.
Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions; organize educational materials.
Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform phlebotomy when competent.
Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates; provide immunizations (certification or 3 years experience required).
Support departmental quality initiatives, including patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
Direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work 1–2 years required.
BLS certification preferred.
Certified Medical Assistant national certification preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks in complex environments.
Accurate, detail‑oriented; proficiency in EHR systems and medical office software.
Compliance with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules.
Physical Requirements
Standing 34–66%; Walking 34–66%; Sitting Occasionally 3–33%.
Lifting 35 lb+ (assisted device); Carrying 20–35 lb.
Fine manipulation 34–66%; Gross manipulation 34–66%.
Vision and hearing constant 67–100%; Talking constant 67–100%.
Location & Compensation 32 Fruit Street, 20 hour per week, regular employee type, day shift. Pay: $17.36 – $24.45 per hour.
