We are currently looking to fill one (1.0 FTE) full-time, and two (0.5 FTE's) part-time
Medical-Surgical nurse positions . A typical shift duration is 8-hours. Under direction, the incumbent will perform varied professional nursing duties with primary emphasis on professional nursing care for hospital or patients; treat and educate patients, their families and the public about various medical conditions; record medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results; operate medical machinery; administer treatment and medications; assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; and perform other duties as assigned and required by assigned clinical setting. The incumbent will be responsible for the care of general medical-surgical patients, such as Telemetry, Oncology, and Pediatric patients. The
ideal candidate
is fully competent to: Provide hands-on care to patients, practicing in an evidence-based manner. Practice within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirement, standards of care, and hospital policies. Perform all steps of the nursing process, including assessing patients; interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care; coordinating care with other providers; and teaching the patient and family the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications. Partner with the patient’s family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family centered care. Monitor the quality of nursing care provided. Take responsibility for his/her own professional development, including licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, and maintaining current knowledge regarding assigned patient population. Contribute to the profession of nursing through such activities as teaching others, sharing expertise in unit or hospital wide. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required. Chemotherapy Certification is preferred. Recent acute inpatient medical surgical experience for greater than 1 year is also preferred.
