Senior Manufacturing Manager Location:
Orwell, OH Responsibilities
Lead the hourly manufacturing operations teams and be responsible for KPIs impacting safety, quality, delivery, cost and people. Partner with Engineering, Materials Management, Maintenance, Quality, Commercial, Finance, OPEX and Human Resources for optimized customer satisfaction and manufacturing performance. Act as a change agent to drive improved manufacturing performance and the effectiveness of hourly team members and their supervisors. Ensure adherence to plant environmental, safety and health guidelines and regulations, and foster daily engagement across the shop floor. Lead plant manufacturing operations, ensuring production requirements are achieved and optimized relative to changing demand levels. Drive continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor and achieve operations KPI goals related to safety, quality, delivery, customer satisfaction, employee engagement and cost. Ensure compliance with established quality standards. Manage manufacturing operations headcount and plan, including proactive recommendations to optimize On-Time Performance, volume and cost. Partner with Materials Management to optimize inventory levels and maintain high customer service levels. Proactively manage the manufacturing operations budget and generate cost savings opportunities, partnering with support teams to realize improvements. Collaborate with Engineering to develop and implement capital projects to meet business and plant objectives. Proactively manage talent in the hourly team and supervisors, including performance reviews, coaching, training, and maintaining a regular presence on all shop floor areas. Operate as a role model who embraces Kennametal Cultural Beliefs and inspires others to do the same. Position Requirements
BS in Engineering, business or a related field; minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience, and at least 5 years in related manufacturing management. Strong organizational, interpersonal and hands-on problem-solving skills; experience working with cross-functional teams. Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools to drive continuous improvement; Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred. Experience leading hourly shop floor teams to operate safely, identify improvements and support implementation. Operational and management experience in batch and discrete component manufacturing; experience balancing resources to meet plant objectives in Orwell, OH. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, set priorities, resolve problems and meet deadlines. Knowledge and experience using SAP is preferred. Strong computer literacy including MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Proven ability to engage and inspire team members and effectively manage personnel matters.
