Overview
RN CLINIC II at Covenant Health – Registered Nurse position in an outpatient clinic setting.
Location: Knoxville area; Status: Full Time, 80 hours per pay period; Shift: Day shift.
Position Summary Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as appropriate.
Responsibilities
Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
Precepts new employees/students as needed. Reviews clinical performance of the preceptee with office manager or clinical instructor/supervisor.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment. Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy.
After retrieving condition of patients, creates nursing history and discusses recommendations for appropriate interventions to appropriate practitioner.
Demonstrates clinical expertise and knowledge to resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without direct supervision.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy by using AIDET fundamentals of communication.
Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients.
Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relays appropriate information to practitioner in a timely manner.
Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner.
Completes medical orientation checklist.
Initiates appropriate patient education.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
Implements care appropriate to diagnosis and per physician order.
Problem solves and coordinates clinic patient care with physician supervision.
Demonstrates competence in performing skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to stay current with trends in the field.
Collaborates with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team-based approach to overall patient care.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education : None specified; however, must meet standards for achievement of license/certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience : Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
Licensure : Must have a valid Tennessee RN license. CPR, OSHA training annually.
