Overview UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine. The Per Diem Respiratory Therapist will provide Respiratory Services according to the scope of the Respiratory Care Practice Act and hospital policy and procedure manuals. The RCP will provide respiratory therapy services to inpatients and outpatients as ordered by the physician caring for patients of ages: Birth to 11, 13-18 Adolescents, 18-64 Adults, and 65+ Older Adults.
Responsibilities
Provide basic respiratory care and emergency respiratory care.
Manage ventilator settings and conduct pulmonary testing.
Perform cardiology procedures as directed by physician orders.
Under supervision of the Technician Coordinator and the Director of the Cardiopulmonary Department.
Required Qualifications
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license with the State of California.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
Customer service skills and excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload and establish effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year acute care experience.
Registered or Registry Eligible with the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
Physical Requirements
Stand and walk for long periods of time.
Dexterity, coordination, visual/auditory acuity to perform job duties.
Turn, lift, and position patients up to several hundred pounds with assistance.
Reach, stretch, and assist patients routinely.
Lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds.
Push up to 400 pounds.
