Commercial Controls Product Manager III
is responsible for managing one category within Rheem Air Commercial Division. Responsibilities include maintaining product life cycle, developing 5 year multi-generation product roadmaps, conducting competitive benchmarking exercises, identifying and filling product gaps, leading cross-functional teams to develop new products, leading projects through stage-gate PDP product development process, managing product cost and profitability, leading product cost-reduction activities, conducting voice of customer exercises, monitoring and adapting product portfolio strategy to changing industry regulations and market trends, leading product commercialization efforts, providing marketing support for product training, sales training, promotions, pricing and product literature. Lewisville, TX . Responsibilities
Define and execute the product roadmap for Rheem Commercial Air Controls Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for HVAC control systems, including BACnet, Modbus, and IoT-enabled devices Identify emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning, cloud-based controls) and assess their applicability to HVAC controls Ensure product compliance with ASHRAE standards, UL/CE certifications, regulations and local building codes Lead the development of programmable, smart, and learning thermostats for commercial applications Collaborate with UI/UX teams to ensure intuitive interfaces and seamless integration with tablet and mobile apps Develop and manage a portfolio of IAQ-focused control solutions, including CO₂ sensors, VOC detectors, particulate matter sensors, and integrated air purification systems Identify and implement smart control strategies that optimize IAQ while balancing energy efficiency Collaborate with R&D, system engineering and manufacturing to develop new products Lead cross-functional team on product development projects utilizing the Product Development Council and Product Development Process Lead competitive benchmarking activities to identify and address product gaps, including product tear-downs, PEP process, customer surveys, online research and other benchmarking methodologies Collaborate with other Rheem divisions to promote cross-divisional partnerships in controls to jointly develop products and new technologies Perform market research and customer sensing activities to refine product designs Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Marketing, Finance to ensure profitable growth of the product category and successful execution of product development projects Set strategy for marketing and commercialization activities for product launches Provide product leadership at customer and internal events and meetings Support the development and maintenance of product literature, product training, sales training, product pricing and product marketing materials Qualifications
Bachelor degree in marketing, business management, engineering or related field 7+ years of experience in product management Experience with New Product Development Process of engineered products Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment Demonstrated project management and team leadership skills Strong analytical, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills Highly energetic and a self-starter Ability to think outside the box to offer new ideas and solutions Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information Engineering or marketing background with industry experience preferred Ability to travel around 20% to 30% within the US How To Stand Out
Prior experience in sales, marketing or product management in the HVAC industry Demonstrate deep knowledge of HVAC systems, building automation, and control technologies Highlight experience with protocols like BACnet, Modbus, and KNX Showcase familiarity with IAQ technologies (CO₂, VOC, PM2.5 sensors) and smart thermostats Master’s degree in marketing or business management About Us
