MECHANIC I, INVENTORY CONTROL - Fleet Management (PART-TIME)

Overview
Performs specialized inventory control work for ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing parts, supplies, and equipment essential in the timely support of automotive special purpose trucks and equipment. Monitors fuel site controller and reports system usage. Performs State inspections and mechanical repairs. Responsibilities
Maintains computerized inventory maintenance records. Monitors movement of stocked parts and inventory levels. Conducts physical inventory of stock parts and supplies. Ensures part costs comply with bid documents. Orders stock and non-stock parts through online and outside vendors. Solicits quotes from vendors as needed. Submits warranty claims for parts ordered. Provides road service repairs and transport as needed. Performs mechanical repairs. Monitors and maintains fuel site reports and consumption usage. Performs State inspections. Performs all other related duties as required. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED + Two (2) full-time years of experience with a large company or governmental agency in diversified automotive parts, supply, or inventory control including fleet maintenance technical and mechanical experience. Must have or obtain State Inspector's License within six (6) months. Class C driver's license upon hire. Must have or obtain Forklift Certification within six (6) months. Knowledge of the acquisition, receipt, storage, and issuance of materials and equipment and proper procedures for supply and inventory operations. Considerable knowledge of vehicle parts and computerized inventory record keeping. Must be able to work independently and have good communication skills, both oral and written. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departments, County staff, and vendors. Must have the ability to plan and maintain a supply of parts and materials that will ensure timely and effective support of maintenance requirements. Must have the ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and State inspections. Other requirements
(The selected candidate(s) for this position must take and pass a pre-placement physical examination.) If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing. Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually. While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb, climb ladders, climb stairs, grasp/squeeze, use hand tools, use hazardous machinery, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift various ranges, use material handling equipment, tolerate noise and extreme temperatures, pull, push, reach, perform repetitive tasks, negotiate rough or uneven surfaces, see color, see far and near, sit, drive a vehicle, tolerate vibration, walk, and work overtime.
