Operations Manager, Pharmaceutical Logistics - remote eligible
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee pharmaceutical logistics operations within our freight forwarding division. This role requires deep operational expertise in temperature-controlled transportation, regulatory compliance, and supply chain execution to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day pharmaceutical logistics operations including freight forwarding, cold chain management, and last-mile delivery for pharmaceutical clients
Ensure strict compliance with DSCSA requirements, FDA regulations, GDP standards, and state-specific 3PL licensing requirements
Manage temperature-controlled transportation operations, including monitoring systems, chain of custody documentation, and deviation protocols
Coordinate customs clearance, international shipping documentation (commercial invoices, house bills, waybills), and IOR/DDP term compliance for cross-border pharmaceutical shipments
Work closely with customs brokers, carriers, and regulatory agencies to resolve issues and maintain compliant operations
Maintain associated accreditation standards and support program requirements for new/existing customers and programs
Develop and oversee warehouse operations for pharmaceutical products, ensuring proper storage, handling, and inventory management
Monitor KPIs including on-time delivery rates, temperature excursion incidents, documentation accuracy, and customer satisfaction scores
Develop and implement SOPs for pharmaceutical handling, emergency response, and quality assurance
Manage relationships with carriers, ensuring proper licensing, insurance, and compliance with pharmaceutical transportation requirements
Investigate and resolve operational issues, claims, and service failures while implementing corrective actions
Utilize TMS platforms (CSA WorldTrack, Grasshopper, DispatchTrack) to manage shipments, track deliveries, and generate operational reports
Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to ensure smooth handoffs and proactive communication
Stay current on regulatory changes affecting pharmaceutical logistics and implement necessary operational adjustments
Education / Qualifications Required
Experience managing international freight forwarding, customs documentation, and cross-border pharmaceutical shipments
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or OR 3-5 years of hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical logistics operations within the freight forwarding industry
Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical distribution, cold chain logistics, and regulatory compliance (DSCSA, FDA, GDP). Experience with FMCSA regulations, MC authority, and DOT compliance are required for the position.
Strong understanding of 3PL operations, VAWD requirements, and state licensing obligations
Proven ability to manage operational teams and drive performance improvements
Excellent problem‑solving skills with ability to handle high‑pressure situations and service recovery
Strong communication skills for interfacing with clients, carriers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams
Working knowledge of temperature monitoring systems and deviation management protocols
Preferred
VAWD certification or direct experience maintaining accreditation
Familiarity with Fieldglass, CSA WorldTrack, or similar logistics platforms
Background in healthcare logistics or working with covered entities under 340B programs
Six Sigma, Lean, or other process improvement certifications

May require occasional warehouse floor presence to oversee operations and troubleshoot issues
Manual dexterity and visual acuity are needed to operate normal office equipment, such as a computer, telephone, and copier. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

This role will ideally work out of our corporate office in Eagan, MN with a regular presence in dispatch areas. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments with exposure to temperature-controlled storage areas

On‑call rotation may be required to support 24/7 pharmaceutical logistics operations
