Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY
The Facilities Manager (Manager/Sr. Manager) is responsible for ensuring the reliable, compliant, and efficient operation of all facility systems supporting a GMP-regulated gene therapy manufacturing plant. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for building infrastructure, critical utilities, and environmental systems required to maintain aseptic manufacturing conditions and product quality. The Facilities Manager drives proactive maintenance, asset lifecycle management, and continuous improvement to maximize facility uptime, ensure regulatory compliance, and support business growth. Acting as a cross-functional partner, this role leads the facilities team in delivering a safe, sustainable, and compliant environment for employees, processes, and products.
This position is posted at the Manager/Senior Manager level. The level hired will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
Essential Job Functions
Represents department at cross functional meetings serving as the key stakeholder for all Facilities (FAC) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) areas.
Drives necessary equipment, control system, and facility improvement projects, providing oversight of design, construction, testing, and turnover with responsibility for schedule, budget, and overall project performance.
Manage service contracts and coordinate all related tasks associated with building upkeep, including patch/paint, light carpentry, office recycling, waste removal, and plumbing repairs.
Oversee office renovation and expansion projects with responsibility over budget and delivery.
Manage office cleaning service staff including maintaining adequate stock of the required cleaning supplies.
Manage site security vendor to ensure proper coverage of the facility during business hours.
Provide technical support and analysis for the resolution of deviations, investigations, and process issues.
Works independently to develop department procedures, standards, and specifications.
Manage and mentor Facilities (FAC) staff, and provide clear direction, expectations and goal setting.
Maintain team metrics related to on-time delivery and provide routine status updates to management.
Perform goal setting and period performance reviews of direct reports in alignment with corporate objectives.
Special Job Requirements
Adaptability required as work schedule may change based on business needs, including flexibility for different time zones
Incumbent will be required to carry a cell phone and be on call to support manufacturing operations
Criminal background check required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Education / Certifications / Licenses BS/BA degree in technical or mechanical discipline
On-The-Job Experience 7+ years of relevant working experience including 2+ years of management experience in a comparable position (similar type of work, similar group dynamics)
Skills / Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
Ability to multi-task and perform assignments that have loosely defined objectives which require investigation of numerous variables
Ability to plan, coordinate, perform, and document work with minimal supervision
Ability to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Experience with pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical equipment commissioning, validation, and performance monitoring
Proven experience and proficiency troubleshooting process and process support system issues
Must be familiar with process control system programming and operation
Experience with facility and equipment investment and maintenance planning/forecasting
Proficient in MS Office Suite, including MS Project or similar project management software

Regularly sit for long periods of time
Movement
Frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
