Position Summary
SRC Tutor I - Respiratory Care Program, Academic Affairs. Part-time Temporary, Non-Exempt. Work Schedule: 6-8 hours per week. Pay Range: $16.31-$20.77, determined based on relevant years of work experience. Benefits Category: Partial benefits. Position Details
Job duties include but are not limited to: Tutor students through drop-in, by-appointment, and/or semester-long tutoring (online and/or in-person) for lower-level biology courses, using anatomical models and online resources, and guiding lab techniques including the use of microscopes. Refer students to appropriate resources within the relevant resource center and the larger Academic Resource Center. Refer students to appropriate resources outside the relevant resource center/Academic Resource Center with consultation/direction from the relevant supervisor. Maintain accurate and detailed records in accordance with FERPA and keep staff updated on student progress and problems. Assist in the daily activities of the center, cover the front desk and checkout resources as needed, ensure students are checked in/out, help maintain a positive, clean, and organized center space, and ensure students follow center policies. Assist students with computer systems/software and help troubleshoot computer problems as they impact tutoring operations. Use the scheduling system to manage and maintain tutoring schedules. Participate in mandatory center training and other campus-wide training opportunities as appropriate. Adhere to good work ethics by reporting on time, staying the scheduled hours, and notifying absences in advance when possible. Additional duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at management’s discretion, including scheduling, shift assignments, and work location. Required Qualifications
Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment. Requires high school diploma and successful completion of two years of undergraduate coursework and successful completion of courses in the Respiratory Care Program (RC) courses. Required Skills
Familiarity with Respiratory Care laboratory techniques. Ability to assist with RC computer programs. Good communication skills, including listening with understanding and patience. Ability to explain concepts in relation to theory and clinical applications, both orally and in writing, in one-to-one or small group settings. About JCCC
