Adjunct Professor of History – Inside Higher Ed (Johnson County Community College) Position: Adjunct Professor of History, Academic Affairs

Type: Part-time Adjunct Faculty, Exempt

Work Schedule: Varies depending on department needs; online and face-to-face, with weekday availability and potential evening sessions.

Pay Range: AJCR $1,208-$1,344 per credit hour and in accordance with the adjunct table and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary JCCC is looking for a qualified pool of applicants for part-time history faculty positions. The ideal candidate(s) will be qualified and available to teach beginning in fall 2026 (and possibly sooner).

World history since 1500; with the ability to teach the history of Russia, China, India, and/or Eurasia, and other courses as needed; online and face-to-face weekdays.

U.S. history, online and face-to-face weekdays and Tuesday evenings.

Course descriptions can be found in JCCC's course catalog. In addition to teaching, those hired are expected to perform other duties as assigned. Teaching loads are subject to change. All applications must be submitted via the JCCC jobs portal.

JCCC educates a large, varied student body. Many of our 18,000 students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international, and first-generation college students.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in history or a Master’s degree in a different field and 18 graduate credit hours in history.

Ability to teach world history and/or US history.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in history.

Ability to teach other JCCC history courses.

Ability to teach classes face-to-face during the day.

Ability to teach US history on Tuesday evenings.

Ability to teach online.

Demonstrated expertise in history.

Demonstrated knowledge of academic culture.

Documented successful teaching at the college level.

Professional experience as a historian.

Position Details Job duties include but are not limited to: duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management.
