Overview
HDR Engineering seeks a Substation Team Lead / Project Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals. The primary role includes managing all aspects of substation engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management. The role also involves supervising and growing a local team of engineers and technicians to support projects and engaging in business development activities to support existing and new clients in the region. Establish the Power Delivery relationship with one or more local, key clients, overseeing project execution, driving quality and delivery, providing technical leadership, marketing new opportunities, and achieving profitability to meet business objectives. Supervise and develop a local substation team of engineers and designers; oversee workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and annual performance reviews. Understand and apply basic project management tools and techniques, including client goals, contract types, project risk, work breakdown structures, scope, schedule, budget, financial management and controls (including earned value), and project closeout. Collaborate with substation team members regionally and nationally to balance staffing, quality, utilization, team morale, and training. Develop a network of relationships with technical peers in other offices and leverage resources for work-sharing opportunities. Coordinate with marketing and technical leadership for business development. Thoroughly understand and implement HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures. Oversee non-engineering components of projects as needed, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, construction management, and other services. Work independently and mentor, train, and supervise one or more Project Engineers, Engineers in Training, and/or junior design staff. Perform client management, project management, and/or technical support activities. Represent HDR to support marketing and proposal development for new opportunities. Travel for business development and project execution may be required. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) or ability to obtain. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred. Existing familiarity with Idaho-based utilities is desired. Required Qualifications
