The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Therapist in the Co-Responder program. In this role, you will work with a new program in a trusted and reputable department that has a history of success connecting individuals and their families with person-centered, recovery-oriented services and support. Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services throughout Loudoun County, including in individuals’ homes, as part of a newly formed Co-Responder Program that responds to 911 calls for behavioral health crises. Coordinate follow-up with individuals after 911 calls for service, with or without law enforcement involvement. Utilize expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual/developmental disabilities to support crisis intervention and stabilization. Participate in Co-Responder team activities, including responding in law enforcement vehicles and carrying out crisis response in various settings. Evaluate individuals experiencing behavioral health and developmental disability crises and connect them and their families to treatment and community resources (which may include the civil commitment process). Work in environments that involve entering multiple locations throughout the County, including individuals’ homes, clinics, and offices; be prepared for on-site services in varied conditions. Schedule may extend beyond a standard workday; program coverage will expand to 24 hours/7 days as needed. Fitting for ballistic vest and N-95 (or similar) mask to safely provide on-site services as required. Be available to report to work during inclement weather, disasters, and emergencies. Successful candidates excel in complex, fast-paced environments and are passionate about crisis work with law enforcement and 24/7/365 crisis response. They demonstrate astute clinical acumen, collaborative community partnerships, and strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing demands. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position includes a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program. Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree; license eligible within one year of hire or possess professional licensure through the Virginia Department of Health Professions Board as one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP); and two years of professional experience working with individuals who have a mental health and/or substance use diagnosis (which may include internship experience).
