Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) Epidemiologist

This position is with the Family Health Bureau, which works to improve the health of women, children, and families in New Mexico through policy, surveillance, assurance, and direct services. The CARA Epidemiologist will apply descriptive and complex statistical analysis skills to public health prevention and health status initiatives throughout the state of New Mexico. Responsibilities: Perform statistical analysis and create reports on maternal and child health status for various programs. Manage and collect data using systems such as REDCap, CARA database, NM Healthy Families site, and other platforms. Provide analytic support to program evaluation and monitoring for Title V programs, CARA, and partners. Contribute to grant reporting and performance reporting for federal and state funding streams. Ideal Candidate: Has professional experience creating and interpreting statistical analysis programs. Has experience in the public sector, public health, or health systems. Can work independently and with team members on complex projects. Can manage time, deadlines, and priorities with little supervision. Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statistics and one year of experience in Public Health, including data analysis and linking methodology. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven years may substitute for the required education and experience. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to twenty-five pounds and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
