Night Shift 3 12 Hour Shifts Per Week Rotating Weekends and Holidays Department Summary
The Pediatric Inpatient Cardiology Service is part of the comprehensive pediatric congenital heart institute at Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital. The PHI supports a multidisciplinary team focused on care for children with congenital heart disease. Key Responsibilities
Obtain and document health history; perform and document comprehensive, system-focused, or symptom-specific examinations and plans of care. Collaborate to provide primary, acute and complex care; manage patient care and outcomes for cardiology conditions. Order, perform, interpret and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques and diagnostic procedures. Develop differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions. Prescribe therapeutic interventions (pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and surgical) as needed. Utilize evidence-based practice protocols in planning and implementing care; initiate referrals and consultations. Provide specialty-specific consultation services within scope of practice. Facilitate patient transitions between and within health care settings (admitting, transferring, discharging). Qualifications
Certifications: Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Acute Care (CPNP-AC) or Physician Assistant (PA). Licensure: Licensed Nurse Practitioner - Tennessee. Education: Master's degree. Experience: Less than 1 year (1 year+ eligible for sign-on bonus per policy). Specialty: Pediatric cardiology inpatient care; didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in pediatric practice. Sign-On Bonus
$15,000 Sign On Bonus for Candidates with 1 or More Years of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Experience The sign-on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign-on bonus is only available for full-time positions. Professional Practice
Demonstrate medical knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional development; maintain timely and compliant documentation. Work with multidisciplinary teams including pediatric cardiology hospitalists, cardiologists and other NPs/PAs.
