This on-site role requires working at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County. This position does not offer paid time off. Health benefits are available for full-time employment. Duties & Responsibilities The Dental Assistant provides direct and indirect assistance to the clinical dentist in chairside care and performs expanded duty dental assisting functions as provided by the Florida Dental Practice Act. General and daily supervision will be provided by the Lead Dentist in charge, and indirectly by the Dental Administrator and administrative staff. The Dental Assistant may also perform clerical duties at the front desk and must be able to float to different practices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide instruction in proper oral hygiene skills, including toothbrushing and flossing; educate patients on nutrition and dental caries; distribute and explain patient education materials; instruct expectant mothers of clinic patients (guidance).
Input patient treatment data into the Health Department HMS system and Eaglesoft.
Participate in internal committees and CHD meetings; contribute to a team-focused environment with emphasis on patient care; complete Employee Activity Reports daily and respond to emails daily.
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Public Health, Microsoft Outlook, basic computer skills.
Fluent in written and spoken English; knowledge of Spanish helpful.
Customer service, communication, leadership, relationship building; computer literacy including Excel and Access.
Multitasking, financial, record-keeping and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours in case of an emergency.
Expanded duty certificate.
Valid driver’s license free of major infractions and access to a vehicle for work purposes (reimbursement for mileage).
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of one (1) year experience in a dental practice.
Experience with dental billing, scheduling and appointment control.
Experience with dental clinic terminology and dental procedures.
