This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position. No paid time off is offered. Health benefits are available for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct complex research studies for surveillance of disease and disease syndromes (individual and population outbreaks), including diseases associated with food, water, and those potentially linked to biological agents. Interview individuals and document reports for electronic submission; design questionnaires/interviews as needed. Advise patients on disease prevention when applicable.
Initiate case investigations for reported diseases under supervision, including targeted field investigations and notifying management for action. Analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings orally and in writing to health department staff and the community.
Investigate specialized research projects and provide recommendations.
Communicate findings through teleconferences and meetings; visit and consult with community health care providers regarding current reporting requirements for communicable diseases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Willingness to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours in case of emergency, including work in special needs or Red Cross shelters and disaster responses.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Current enrollment in or completion of a master’s degree in public health.
Experience investigating multiple infectious diseases.
Experience conducting targeted field investigations related to infectious diseases.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual: English/Haitian Creole or English/Spanish.
Experience in Public Health research.
Experience in food handling, safety, protocols, and inspections.
Experience in surveillance systems (e.g., ESSENCE, ILI, Epi-X, Vital Statistics).
Experience with statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Epi Info, Access, Excel).
