Job Description Essential Job Functions: Prepares and injects radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging procedures according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations and department policies. Measures concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specific body areas to assist Radiologists in diagnosing patients’ illnesses. Performs cardiac nuclear studies including stress MUGA, Thallium, and non-gated Technetium studies. Assists physicians with procedures as required. Provides reports to physicians for review and interpretation within the specified time frame. Programs computers for each procedure. Documents reasons for tests and any known allergies. Employs proper aseptic techniques in IV insertion and administration. Manages the nuclear schedule for optimal utilization of time, patient flow, and needs. Performs daily/weekly quality assurance procedures, calibration, and flood analysis on equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines. Troubleshoots minor problems; reports other issues needing repair to supervisors and physicians. Acquires clear images suitable for studies; accurately gates studies when required. Conducts departmental surveys to ensure compliance with radiation standards (SMG, NRC, EPA). Follows procedures for spill and decontamination; reports contamination to authorities. Orders, logs, and disposes of radioactive materials and pharmaceuticals according to standards and regulations. Updates nuclear Policies and Procedures to reflect current best practices. Adheres to workflow protocols, including preparing preliminary reports for cardiologists. Archives images according to SMG procedures. General Job Functions: Performs daily QA checks as required. Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures. Maintains knowledge of safety-related behaviors to ensure a safe work environment. Performs other duties as required. Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. BLS certification required. 0-1 years’ experience; 2-4 years’ preferred. IV Certification required; ARRT and CNMT certifications required. Ability to perform nuclear medicine procedures and prepare/inject radioactive isotopes. Proficient in English communication, both oral and written. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to perform diverse tasks accurately within time limits. Problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority setting skills required. Experience with imaging equipment, dose calibrator, Geiger counter, and related tools preferred. Experience with Well & Probe Uptake System, Lead Syringe Shields, and Lab Coats preferred. Experience with standard office equipment and technology preferred. Travel:
