Summary The Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician is responsible for providing pharmacy services which include, but are not limited to, preparing and distributing pharmaceuticals, maintaining pharmacy records, packaging and shipping medications and operating/monitoring pharmacy automated technology systems. The Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacists and/or the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to ensure delivery of high-quality patient focused pharmacy service.

Responsibilities Maintains and performs medication fulfillment related competencies for central fill, traditional, and specialty prescriptions.

Place completed prescription medication into appropriate packing container and use associated supplies to ensure product integrity is maintained throughout the shipping process. This process shall include but is not limited to preparing contents for shipment by weighing, labeling, and recording information about each package within the shipping software.

Responsible for ensuring that packages make it safely to their destination by securely sealing each container. Must be able to use hand tools, adhesives, padding, and other products to protect package contents following approved guidelines regarding proper packaging.

Follows URAC standard and regulations for fulfillment and distribution of specialty drugs.

Must ensure shipping patient/clinic mailing/destination address label is accurate to ensure package arrives at the designated locations within set time

Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and/or the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, supports the department in the ethical practice of pharmacy on a daily basis by providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.

Prepares prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures and prepares medications as directed. Ensures all work is checked by a pharmacist.

Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximized patient care outcomes such as, ensuring the prescription is dispensed to the correct patient in a professional manner

Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy supervisors on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions.

Qualifications Education:

Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date (Pharmacy Interns are not required to hold CPhT certification)

Must also have national certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT), or within 6 months from start date

Pharmacy students who have completed 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy are eligible for pharmacy internship, and may be waived for the required experience

6 months - 1 year of work experience preferred

Experience:

1 year of work experience preferred

Certification/Licensure:

Must also have national certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT), or within 6 months from start date

Software/Hardware:

Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
