Overview
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides nuclear imaging services to patients. The technologist administers radiopharmaceuticals, operates imaging equipment, develops images, and participates in quality control procedures. The technologist maintains all required patient records and records required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and state agencies, including receipt, disposal, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, radioactive survey results, radioactive source inventory, and quality control logs. The technologist’s performance supports the hospital’s Mission Statement and Core Values.
Responsibilities
Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients and operate imaging equipment.
Develop film/images and participate in quality control procedures.
Maintain all patient documentation records required by NRC and state agencies.
Communicate with physicians to implement and modify protocols.
Monitor technologists and maintain an efficient work environment.
Help maintain department budget goals and radiation safety at all times.
Qualifications
Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology with national certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (Nuclear Medicine Division) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
Current certification with the State of California (CRT).
Completion of at least two years of college‑level academic credits in physical sciences or related fields such as Medical Technologist, Registered Nurse, or Registered Radiological Technologist.
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintained at all times).
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients of all ages, physicians, visitors, and other staff.
Preferred
B.S. in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay range: $40.00 – $70.00. Up to $20,000 sign‑on bonus available based on experience. Department budget and radiation safety maintenance responsibilities included.
Employment Type Full‑time, Day shift.
