This position performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of College electrical systems and their related components. Works under the guidance of an Electrician IV and V, or assignee and in accordance with the standard practices of the electrical trade. The work is inspected and reviewed upon completion for compliance with building codes and specifications by either Electrician IV or V. What you will be doing

Performs tasks by using the standard tools, materials, codes, methods, and safe practices of the electrical trade Assists in installing, maintaining, and repairs of electrical lighting systems, including ballasts, fixtures wiring, fuses, sockets, and bulbs Primarily assists in the task of lighting preventive maintenance Handles lighting preventive maintenance Changes ballasts (277V) Changes lamps Digs trenches Assists journeyman electrician as needed Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed

High school diploma or equivalent. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution A minimum of three (3) years experience in the electrical trade either as a trade helper (or equivalent) or as a participant in good standing in an acceptable formal training program. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to any campus. This is a district position requiring the individual to work on all campuses. Knowledge of trade tools and of occupational hazards, safety precautions, local codes to the trade are essential Ability to use electronic mail web based trouble report systems i.e. PDA based C.M.M.S. and computer based energy management system Ability to plan, assign, review, supervise, and inspect the work of others, schedule facilities and staff, and coordinate work with other trades Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to follow instructions relating to work assignments that may be oral or written and may be accompanied by sketches or blueprints Ability to use electronic mail, web based trouble report systems, and PDA based C.M.M.S software Ability to work and communicate in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment, travel in county and be willing and able to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, perform on-call and respond to after-hour emergencies Essential Position

This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
