Project Engineer II – Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Motors

Job Description:
Under the direction of and reporting to Sr. Manager, Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering – Motors, develop and implement sustainable, robust and reliable complex manufacturing processes to achieve aggressive cost, quality and throughput goals and objectives.This position works in a team environment and uses engineering expertise and abilities to contribute to the development and manufacturing of power tool electric motors. Specific duties include:
Manufacturing Process Development:Preferred knowledge and experience in production manufacturing assembly processesAutomation, resistance and laser welding, part handling, etcDevelop innovative solutions; implement sustainable, robust and reliable complex manufacturing processesStrong analytical skills, knowledge, and experience in process evaluation tools: Design of Experiments (DOE), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), PFMEA, DFMEA, statistical data analysis, risk analysis, flow layout and other related engineering toolsWork with Platform Development, Advanced Development, and New Product Development design engineers to evaluate and advise product design for optimized manufacturabilityWork with and lead development with equipment suppliers to deliver custom processing solutions to achieve goals and objectivesResearch and evaluate new technologies and breakthrough processes to accelerate competitive manufacturing advantageUtilize prototyping methods to develop and prepare engineering samples for evaluation and testingPerform a variety of calculation and software aided analyses to prove process reliability, capability and sustainabilityProvide multiple what-if scenarios to find best total cost solution with financial impacts with emphasis on delivery timelinesStrong emphasis on fixture and gaging design, utilizing 3D CAD softwareProject Management Skills:Lead manufacturing projects, providing direction, guidance and engineering expertise to team membersFacilitate project flow involving regular contact with engineering, manufacturing and other cross functional teams when necessaryExcellent verbal and written communication to make formal presentations regarding project status to team and managementProvide input with cross functional teams of baseline staffing and skillset required as related to the operational complexity of the processExcellent interpersonal skills to work in a team environment and challenge status quo with respect to drive the best solutions for the businessLead operations milestone delivery through the VIGOR process Other Requirements:
Ability to travel domestically and internationally for machine and/or concept evaluationsEstimated yearly travel: 10%-20%Most trips will be 1-2 week with possibilities of weekend travelAbility to learn new technical materialAbility to be interactive “hands on” with each upcoming engineering project Education and Experience Requirements:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 3 years Manufacturing Engineering experience requiredOr an Engineering Technology degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experiencePreferred experience with motor manufacturing technologies such as winding, fusing, electrical testing, laser welding and ultrasonic weldingPreferred enhanced specialty skills in new process development and implementationAdvanced computer knowledge and skills in MS Office and Solidworks/AutoCAD/NXCompetencies and Personal Attributes:Agility– Embraces change, domestic and international travelPassionate and Energetic– Driven to be the bestEntrepreneurial– Take ownership and appropriate risk, seek breakthroughsDrive for Results– Set plans, track progress and deliver commitmentsTeam Oriented– embrace teams for overall business successDelivery — put theories into actionMilwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.
