Overview

As an Aerospace Engineering Manager at Textron Systems, you will have the opportunity to lead a variety of aircraft design, integration, flight controls, and simulation efforts to support and deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter. Successful candidates will possess multi-disciplinary knowledge to include aircraft, autopilot, and associated sub-system design, integration, and test, and will thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a strong understanding of applied control system design and development in unmanned applications. Responsibilities

Manage a 5-10 person team of aerospace and controls engineers ranging from junior to senior levels. Lead the development of new aircraft across all phases of the hardware design lifecycle from concept development to test and evaluation. Lead the design and development of unmanned aircraft autopilots and control systems and advanced simulation. Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers of aircraft components and subsystems as needed. Participate in test events as the subject matter expert in aerodynamics, autopilot performance, and control. Support technical proposals and new business pursuits. Conduct discipline project bid generation for project scoping and budgeting. Drive innovation and efficiency in a collaborative team environment to enable rapid capability development and technical innovation. Track and manage engineering metrics, staffing, and budget allocations for successful project execution. Develop and mentor junior staff. Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. 10+ years of related aerodynamic and controls experience. Experience leading and managing technical teams and collaborating with systems, mechanical, electrical, and software leads. Demonstrated ability to lead the technical execution of aerospace projects. Demonstrated strong understanding and application of Aerospace Engineering principles, theories, concepts, and standards. Demonstrated experience conducting unmanned aircraft sizing, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design. Experience in using, updating, and writing aircraft performance simulation and predictive tools. Experience with the test and validation of unmanned aircraft. Experience in using, updating, and writing tools for the analysis and interpretation of real-world test data. Experience in using and developing tools in MATLAB and SIMULINK. Experience modeling aircraft dynamics and subsystems and conducting detailed simulations. Effective written and oral presentation skills. Experience generating technical proposals and bidding engineering tasking. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Travel: 10% of the Time. Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing technical projects using Agile methodologies, including JIRA. Experience with control system analysis and design, gains selection, and margin estimation. How We Care
