Overview
Substation Senior Civil/Structural Engineer – Leidos Engineering. Leidos provides engineering services across energy technologies and independent oversight for utilities, financial institutions, and local governments. This role focuses on design reviews and leading project teams on substation civil/structural components. Responsibilities
Perform design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects (steel and concrete design, geotechnical engineering, site design, foundations, and related elements) to support bid/construction packages. Serve as a senior engineer on client projects, overseeing work, ensuring quality control, and mentoring junior staff. Take a lead engineer role on projects, including coordinating with clients and internal teams, and participating in front-facing activities (e.g., kick-off meetings, lunch and learn sessions). Conduct site visits to client substation facilities and occasional travel for meetings and industry events. Maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, and safe work practices. Qualifications
Bachelors of Science (BS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering – Required Masters of Science (MS) degree in Civil-Structural Engineering – Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) licensure – Required Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint and MATHCAD Experience with STAAD.Pro, RISA 3D, FAD Tools, SAFE, SAG10, and LPILE Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation Strong analytical and technical writing skills; ability to communicate with clients and staff Willingness to travel up to 25% Work Location
Ideally Walled Lake, MI (hybrid) or Chicago, IL (hybrid); all qualified candidates located in the U.S. will be considered for 100% remote work. Additional Details
