Data Center Associate Engineer / Information Technologist I

The Data Center Facilities Team is responsible for assisting in maintaining several mission-critical facilities geographically distributed across the East Lansing campus for MSU Information Technology (MSU IT). Reporting to the Data Center Facilities Manager, the Data Center Engineer I will primarily perform the following duties: Capacity Planning & Management – Ensure adequate resources are available to support customer installations (power, network, future expansion, etc.) Facility Maintenance & Management – Work collaboratively with Infrastructure teams and vendors to coordinate maintenance of power, cooling, security, and network resources. Hardware Installation and Configuration – Physically install and decommission servers, PDUs, network, and other data center hardware. Documentation – Maintain exceptional accuracy of DCIM software, procedures, and policies. Asset Management – Assist in auditing MSU IT and data center customer assets. Incident and Request Response – Monitor ticketing system and provide response in a timely manner. Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology Data Center Engineering area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
