About the Job Model 1 Ford is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. This position is focused on supporting customers in the field by handling diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance at their location. The role requires hands‑on experience with automotive systems, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently outside of the dealership environment.
Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites to complete service and repair work
Diagnose issues and perform accurate inspections using diagnostic equipment
Conduct light and medium‑duty repairs, including brakes, electronics, and HVAC systems
Perform suspension, steering, and drivetrain component repairs
Service gasoline and diesel engines
Repair transmission and transaxle systems
Complete and submit repair orders with accurate documentation
Review warranty claims, maintenance requirements, and product updates
Work with leadership to resolve complex or escalated technical issues
Provide customers with clear communication and training when needed
Maintain efficiency standards of 85 % or higher
Follow safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 2 years of experience in an automotive or medium‑duty service environment
Knowledge in one or more of the following certifications: Automobile (A1‑9), Medium/Heavy Truck (T1‑8), School Bus (S1‑7), Transit Bus (H1‑8)
Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements
ASE certifications or ability to complete ASE testing
Strong mechanical background with diagnostic and repair skills
Clear communication and customer service abilities
Professional, dependable, and capable of working independently
Physical Requirements
Able to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs.
Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and crawling may be required
Good manual dexterity for handling tools and parts
Must maintain eligibility for a CDL and pass DOT medical and driving requirements
