Job Overview An internationally recognized law firm seeks a Patent Counsel with a strong background in electrical engineering and emerging technologies to join its expanding IP practice in Los Angeles. Key Responsibilities
Conduct patent prosecution in areas such as 5G, Wi‑Fi, AI, processor and memory systems, and image processing.
Develop and manage strategic patent portfolios for multinational clients.
Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and business leaders to identify and protect key innovations.
Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications.
Provide technical and legal analysis on patentability, infringement, and validity issues.
Contribute to practice development through innovative legal solutions and client engagement.
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
2+ years of patent prosecution experience, preferably at an Am Law or top IP firm.
Registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or eligible to register.
Admitted to a State Bar and in good standing (or eligible to waive in).
Strong technical understanding of wireless communications, AI, and digital systems.
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or machine learning technologies preferred.
