Job Summary and Responsibilities The Clinic LPN provides quality practical nursing care to clinic patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Provider, within the scope of LPN licensure and Franciscan Medical Group (FMG) Scope of Practice Policy. The incumbent assists providers with patient clinic visits, carries out routine nursing protocols, and provides clinical support and related assistance to professional medical staff. Work includes participating in patient care planning, assisting with and/or performing therapeutic/diagnostic procedures/tests, reporting nursing observations/assessments and updating information in the patient’s electronic medical record. An employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring tasks within scope of practice and established standards of care; an RN or Provider provides instructions for new or more complex tasks and is consulted for unusual or unfamiliar situations. The role involves managing a demanding workload and delivering excellent customer service to patients/families, the multi-disciplinary team, practitioners and the public.
Essential Job Duties
Prepares patients for practitioner visit; rooms patients, records vital signs and relevant information (height, weight, allergies, current medications, presenting problem); documents the patient exam and ensures patient privacy and comfort.
Performs or assists with patient care, diagnostic tests and clinical procedures to the level of training and scope of licensure; follows triage protocols and refers complex or urgent cases to an RN or provider.
Assists with point-of-care testing (CLIA-Waived Tests) and lab tests per established protocols.
Administers patient medications per provider orders; tracks medication usage and inventories controlled substances as required.
Documents procedures and interactions in the patient’s medical record and processes orders as appropriate.
Maintains exam rooms and prepares, cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and effective communication with diverse patient populations.
Performs related duties as required.
Job Requirements
Education/Experience:
Graduated from an accredited practical nursing program approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing. One year of LPN experience in a clinic setting OR two years of acute care LPN experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current LPN licensure in Washington state. Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
