Position: Food Service Assistant I

Location: Arlington Heights, IL

Per diem,

scheduled as needed

Hours: Mon-Fri, Sat & Sun 2:30pm-7:15pm, 3:30pm-8:00pm, 3:30pm, 4:15pm-7:15pm, 4:15pm-7:45pm, 4:15pm-8:15pm, 4:30pm-7:30pm, 4:30pm-8:00pm

A Brief Summary

Reporting to the Director of Nutrition and Food Service with accountability to the team facilitator and team, prepares and serves food, operates cash register, cleans and sanitizes the work area. Works efficiently as a team member, ensuring high satisfaction from each customer.

What you will need

Knowledge and practical experience in food service is desirable.

Sanitation Certification is preferred.

The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with customers and team members and maintain a customer service focus.

The mathematical skills necessary to accurately count cash and prepare cash deposits.

The ability to write, speak, and read in English.

What you will do

Prepares and serves food and hot and cold beverages to customers in assigned area. Assembles sandwiches and salads. May cook grilled foods such as hamburgers or bacon. May heat soups or other prepared foods.

Restocks supplies as necessary. Replenishes napkins, silverware, condiments and other related consumables to ensure adequate supplies are available to the customers.

Operates cash register, charges appropriately for items, accepts cash and refunds change. Counts and prepares daily cash receipt deposits. Responds to customer questions and comments in a courteous and professional manner.

Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in work area. Cleans equipment, tables, counter tops, trays, and utensils.

Prepares cafe for opening and closing according to special task lists. Ensures all surfaces, floors, food areas and eating areas are cleaned according to food and sanitation standards and hospital policy.
