Tulane University . The Laboratory Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a breast cancer research laboratory. The role directs the administrative, operational, personnel, customer service, financial, and programmatic functions, coordinates technical functions with technical teams, and manages all aspects of the laboratory's research projects. The position plans, prepares, and monitors equipment, operations, and laboratory expense budgets, and ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, including adherence to laboratory Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs). The candidate will conduct cancer biology research investigating hypoxia-induced cell signaling and evaluating drug response and chemotherapy drug resistance in cultured cell models through establishment, propagation, and image analysis. The candidate will maintain the rodent colony and participate in animal procedures and animal imaging in adherence with SOPs and federal regulations. This role suits a staff member who can handle multiple projects and complete assignments under minimal supervision. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact with internal and external personnel and collaborators. The candidate will collate, organize, present data, and maintain meticulous logs of cell banks and tumor tissues, and will instruct other staff and visiting students in basic laboratory techniques as required by the Principal Investigator. Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis. REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:

Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation, required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended. Required Education And/or Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a biological science Five years of directly related experience, including two years of supervisory experience Experience with experimental procedures Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a biological or biomedical science Experience with NIH-funded grants and contract research studies At least 5 years of experience working with live, research animals and standard cell and molecular biology techniques Familiarity with basic computational programs such as Microsoft Excel/Word, Adobe Photoshop, GraphPad Prism, etc. At least 3 years of experience in presenting poster abstracts and drafting manuscripts as a co-author on peer-reviewed publications Seniority level
