Moffitt Cancer Center The health physicist has the responsibility of ensuring the pursuit of the vision emission of Moffitt Cancer Center by actively supporting the radiation safety program. Primary functions and duties will be in the following areas: oversight of experiments and procedures utilising radioactive material, radiation monitoring program, radioactive waste management, laboratory surveys, department audits, package receipt surveys, radioactive materials, accountability, data entry, ALARA program, program policy and procedure development and reviews, radiation safety training, and instrument quality control. Work is supervised and assigned at the task level. All team members must work effectively in collaboration with the entire Moffitt organization (physician, researchers, physicist, technologies, nurses, etc.). Minimum Education Required : Bachelors degree, field of study: health physics, nuclear engineering, or other related field of study. Related field of study may include a stem degree such as engineering, biology, chemistry, etc. Preferred Education : Masters degree, field of study: health, physics, nuclear engineering, science, or other related field of study. Related field of study may include a stem degree such as engineering, biology, chemistry, etc. Minimum Experience Required : Two years radiation safety experience with an undergrad degree in health physics or directly related degree such as nuclear engineering or medical physics. OR three years radiation safety experience with an undergrad degree in a related science such as chemistry or biology. At least one year experience working in an academic or medical radiation safety program desired. A graduate degree in health physics may substitute for one year of experience. Requires experience and demonstrating attention to details good decision making skills demonstrated capacity and motivation to learn. Requires demonstration of strong communication interpersonal skills and excellence as a team player. Must be able to thrive in a busy and potential high stress environment. Strong math capabilities required. Minimum Skills And Training Required : Required an ability to communicate with various stakeholders must be able to use tools to solve mathematical problems. Preferred Experience : Four or more years of radiation safety experience in a research and development environment such as academic or industry research laboratories. Preferred experience and interacting with a variety of stakeholders such as researchers, administration, and regulators. Preferred high proficiency and use of various radiation detection equipment and instrumentation. Preferred Skills And Training : Ability to manage or assist in the management of radiation safety program preferred candidate will have training and emergency response and assisting in a radiation safety capacity.
