Kenall is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to support the design and analysis of a wide range of building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will apply advanced engineering principles to develop innovative, efficient, and code-compliant structural solutions. This role involves performing detailed calculations, preparing design drawings, conducting structural analyses, and ensuring technical accuracy across all project phases.

Roles and Responsibilities

Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering as it relates to projects; resolve problems of significant scope and complexity.

Plan and develop projects or design activities.

Actively participate in the development of project deliverables; plan, organize, supervise, and lead the work of medium-sized teams of professionals.

Design structural elements for challenging and high-profile projects.

Support a wide variety of projects requiring detailed design drawings.

Participate in the development of specifications, design reviews, and structural calculations.

Perform complex assignments, exercising judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and procedures.

Produce and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.

Establish effective working relationships with design teams to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant and consistently high in quality and standards.

Conduct schematic design, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites in coordination with Project Managers, technical professionals, and other disciplines.

The scope of work includes the following structural engineering practice areas for building and non-building structures: Water and wastewater structures, Concrete, steel, and masonry structures, In addition to building structures, the scope may also extend to various civil and linear infrastructure projects.

Develop models and perform calculations using analysis tools such as Tekla and ETABS.

Conduct structural surveys and prepare corresponding reports.

Apply innovative thinking to solve complex engineering challenges.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with finite element structural design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, or similar analytical tools, along with working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, and Bluebeam.

Expertise in local and national building codes within the U.S. (e.g., ASCE 7).

Strong communication, listening, and mentoring skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments.

Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design and LEED certification preferred.

Experience with ACI 350 (and/or CSA S900) standards, particularly for water-retaining structures, is a plus.

Experience in structural condition assessment, repair, and rehabilitation.

Knowledge of RISA 3D, RAM, and STAAD. Pro is considered a plus.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience related to building design.

Professional Engineering (PE) license recognized by the licensing board for the position’s location.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software such as RAM, ETABS, SAFE, or similar tools.

Experience in design calculations and layout preparation.

Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.

Strong understanding of gravity and lateral load analysis.

Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or consulting firm.
