6365 Role & Responsibilities

As a

Work Planner

supporting a nuclear reactor restart, you will be responsible for the detailed development, coordination, and control of maintenance and project work packages to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution. Your scope will include planning both preventative and corrective maintenance activities aligned with project restart milestones. Develop and maintain integrated schedules for maintenance and project execution using Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with reactor restart timelines and regulatory milestones. Create detailed work packages including procedures, permits, materials, resources, and craft-specific task sequences, in compliance with nuclear quality and safety standards. Support field execution teams by ensuring work plans are executable, clear, and in accordance with plant procedures and safety regulations (e.g., OPG’s Work Management Process or equivalent). Coordinate multi-discipline work planning activities, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control (I&C), and civil workstreams. Interface with engineering, operations, radiation protection, and construction teams to validate scope, field conditions, and ensure work readiness. Participate in readiness reviews, work screening, planning board meetings, and schedule risk workshops to identify dependencies, constraints, and required hold points. Apply formal change management protocols to address scope, schedule, or resource deviations while maintaining configuration control. Conduct field walkdowns to confirm job scope, work boundaries, safety conditions, and material readiness. Ensure accurate data entry and status updates in Asset Suite or Maximo to support real-time schedule forecasting and outage coordination. Provide reports and metrics on planning progress, schedule compliance, and work package readiness to project leadership and client stakeholders. Qualifications / Requirements

Technical diploma or university degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in work planning, with direct and recent experience in the nuclear industry required. Demonstrated involvement in nuclear refurbishment, restart, or outage planning projects is essential. Proficient with Primavera P6 and Asset Suite (or equivalent CMMS)—strong working knowledge is essential. Deep understanding of nuclear regulatory requirements, including CSA N286, Work Management processes, and nuclear safety protocols. Strong knowledge of project controls, including cost estimation, earned value, scheduling logic, and risk mitigation strategies. Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight timelines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of using planning and reporting tools for detailed documentation and schedule analysis.
