Clinical Research Strategic Negotiations Manager Position Highlights: The Clinical Research Strategic Negotiations Manager is responsible for strategy and education of negotiating clinical trials, including contract/financial amendments. They oversee all clinical trial negotiations, providing negotiation guidance/tactics, managing sponsor relationships, training teams, resolving escalated negotiation impasses, and introducing strategic innovations to the clinical trials business office. Under the leadership of the Manager Clinical Trials Business Office and in collaboration with the Clinical Trials Business Office Supervisors, this role aids in negotiations for Moffitt’s clinical trials. The manager actively participates in preventative measures to negotiate/counter and secure vital financial revenue in a timely manner, enabling patients to access trials quickly. The manager collaborates with outside parties such as clinical trial sponsors to move negotiations forward when stalled or to resolve impasses and builds rapport with various sites and sponsors. They also collaborate with internal customers such as the Clinical Trials Office and Regulatory departments to ensure timing aligns with counterparts. The manager facilitates meetings with external and internal parties as needed. Provides education to the department on negotiations, contract review, and amendments. This includes training team members and collaborating with Clinical Trial Business Office supervisors to improve contract reviews and negotiation skills. They provide resolutions and manage escalations related to sponsor pushbacks and impasses, and continuously research to introduce new ideas and methods to leverage negotiation tactics, ensuring maximum revenue for trials while reducing contract execution timelines for patient access. Responsibilities
Contract Review Comprehension and revision of clinical trial contracts to ensure financial integrity and minimize revenue loss or unnecessary amendments. Education Provide training on cutting-edge negotiation tactics to prevent revenue loss and reduce impasses; make recommendations to pathways, methods, and tactics related to contracts and negotiations. Collaboration Collaborate with internal management groups to achieve effective negotiation resolutions; build rapport with external sponsors/customers for smooth communications and transactions; attend meetings as needed; serve as primary liaison for the Clinical Trials Business Office with external customers. Negotiation Lead development and negotiation of a portfolio of specified contracts and financial revenue in alignment with Moffitt’s mission and goals; add new negotiation strategies; maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders; coordinate with Supervisors and Manager; present strategies to leadership; assist in impasses, pushbacks, and sponsor escalations to achieve timely resolution. Special Projects/Other Support the Clinical Trial Business Office Manager and Clinical Trials teams as needed. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree – field of study: Healthcare, Business, Finance, Anthropology, Psychology, Communications Minimum eight (8) years experience in legal affairs, contract consulting, healthcare finance, strategy, negotiations, or healthcare management directing and managing third-party contracting/negotiations within a complex health system At least five (5) years contract negotiation experience, with execution of third-party negotiations and related analytics and results Comprehensive knowledge of negotiation principles and strong communication tactics Experience in reimbursement analytics, contract reviews, and negotiation procedures Maintains knowledge of current trends in business negotiations, financial revenue, and healthcare/financial partnerships Moffitt Cancer Center is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
